LIB DEMS CONDEMN RMT & ASLEF STRIKE ACTION

Liberal Democrats demanded compulsory arbitration to halt the two 24 hour strikes planned by Tube unions RMT and ASLEF for later this month.

Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Tooting, Stephanie Dearden said:-

"If the unions have a case, then an independent arbiter would rule in their favour. In the 21st century Tube disputes must be settled without bringing total chaos to the life and economy of Londoners."

"The Tube carries three million passengers each weekday. It is an essential transport lifeline and Londoners are utterly fed up with constant industrial disputes and strike threats. LibDems are clear that for key services like the Underground network, Government should bring in compulsory arbitration."
