Minicabs
Should Have Clearer Signage
Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for
Tooting Stephanie Dearden welcomed Transport for London's decision to re-open
consultation on whether licensed private hire vehicles in the capital should be
permitted to have external signage on their vehicles.
Stephanie Dearden said:-
"We strongly support moves which would clearly identify those minicabs
registered with Transport for London. Passengers need to know what they are
getting into.
"Registered minicab firms and drivers have been licensed by the Public Carriage
Office, and people booking minicabs need to know which these are. In view of
rapes and other serious attacks on women, there is a really important issue here
for personal safety.
"It will be much easier to carry out enforcement against illegal minicabs if all
registered vehicles are clearly identified."
